For the purpose of learning chords, our song library contains the albums "Solfeggio and Chords." Any song from those albums consists of a simple melody in the right hand and an accompaniment of chords in the left hand. The songs are in Major or Minor, and divided by levels of difficulty. In the 1st level, all chords are shell chords consisting of two notes which can be easily played by young students and beginners. This is a good start for acquaintance with chords because the student is focusing on the sound of chords with minimal playing difficulties. The 2nd level of songs uses more advanced chords consisting of three or four notes. All the songs may be played in seven different keys.

1. The teacher chooses the key A Minor and the 1st level from the "Solfeggio and Chords" albums.

2. Using the Gentle Piano program, the student listens to the first song to understand the melody.

3. For the practice, the teacher chooses a music presentation of the Gentle Piano program in which the student can comfortably read the song. For beginners, it will be the 1st presentation, for more advanced students it may be 3rd, 5th or 6th presentation.

4. The student reads and plays the left hand of the song, the right hand is played automatically by the computer program.

5. The teacher switches the Gentle Piano program to the mode with hidden musical notes for the left hand. The student tries to reproduce the chords of the song using his memory and musical ear.

6. If the number of mistakes is more than an allowed number, the student repeats playing the song with the left hand.

7. The teacher chooses the next song in the same A Minor key, and let the student to listen to it.

8. With the hidden notes, the student tries to reproduce the chords of the left hand using his musical memory and ear.

9. The teacher explains the name of the chords and uses some associations to help the child to differentiate the chords. The student continues with the chords practice.

To be able to understand the music harmony and pick a correct accompaniment to any melody, a student needs more than just theoretical knowledge of chords. He needs a long "hands on" practice of playing different melodies and chords. The Gentle Piano program and special song albums can support such practice.
