Hellene Hiner started to write this book specially for her young students. The idea to
transform abstract music concepts and dry facts of history of music
development into an entertaining fairy tale came to Mrs.Hiner long time ago,
during her teaching practice. Initially, this fairy tale existed as a set of
lectures she told in her music classes, and only now published as a book.
Mrs.Hiner used the wide possibilities of a fairy tale to explain complicated music
notions using the form of allegories understandable and acceptable by small
children. In this form, this book may be attractive and beneficial to any child, not only
a music student.
To add interest of children to the story, the book includes many
pictures with personages of this fairy tale the child can color.
For children from 4 to 8 years old.
Read written by Hellene Hiner the Introduction to
the book "The Kingdom of Tune"
Excerpt from the book:
"... Once upon a time, a group of sounds flew into Earth from space, looking
for a good home. They were very different: some were gruff, some were soft, some
were pure, and some were false - they were long and short. They had very
different personalities.
When people appeared on Earth, they paid great attention to sounds. They even
learned different things from them, such as how to use their voices and such.
People liked to listen to the sounds with a certain, fixed pitch or tone the
most, because they could repeat them..."
